"when I grow up i want to be a police girl

so that i can protect houses."

Addison is dead set on being a police girl these days-not a police woman, definitely not a policeman, but a police girl. once she's done that she wants to "be a mommy with a baby in her tummy" and she wants a boy. And when she has a boy, Will would like to name him Patrick or fast car. whichever suits his fancy at the time. Will would also like to have a baby boy but Addison has informed him that a boy, especially not a baby boy, can not come out of his tummy. He agreed.

Just another trip home from preschool folks. Always an adventure!

Spring is here!

Spring is here and weekends are never long enough. Baby parker turned 1 this weekend which is wild because it seems like a few weeks ago that we were at the hospital guessing boy? girl? boy? girl? Boy (i was right) so much fun to celebrate first birthdays. It brings up memories of Will's first birthday-we had just moved into our new house and the carpet was purple and the walls were blue. Addison's is not as vivid of a memory because we barely slept then-she never slept at night and i was so tired. Really, i've lost many memories from her first year to sleep deprivation-which in my opinion is the worst form of torture ever.

Will also had his first tball game yesterday. they look so big out there on the field. Last year, it was so cute because they looked so cute in their uniforms that were WAY to big. THis year they look cute because they're little boys. Little boys running around throwing the ball and stuff. It's just cute.

Addison has decided mean is the new cool. great. love these phases. She's also mixing in just enough whining balanced with super sweet and cute little girl that we could go crazy. can't wait for year 14 with her. She's going to be a peach.

Happy spring my friends. we can all crawl out from under the rocks and enjoy the world!

One project down!

New year's resolutions....I ponder these every year and eventually never set them because, well, I can't keep them! This year though, we were having some issues with Will's behavior, namely not being nice to his sister and being very bossy to his friends. So, a few weeks into January we wrote down some 'rules' of our house. Everyone got to put their ideas on a post it. These were things we wanted to live by. Our list was short and looked a little like this:

Laugh Often (rob)
Be Kind (will)
Say please & Thank you (Will)
Share (addi)
Be thankful (mom)
Control ourselves (mom)
Pay it forward (daddy+ will)
Work hard

At first we had these sticky post its around the house and we'd look at them and then I found this: The coolest way to display new year's resolution. And I knew I had to make it. Well that was January and I just finished. 1/2 way through the year almost - better late than never!

I followed the tutorial pretty closely. There were some tricky parts to it, like the spray glue (it was stuck to my kitchen floor for over a week) and the contact paper piece (i went to 3 stores before 7am one morning looking for contact paper). But it was fun. I like projects like this because you can see the step by step parts to it. Its also fun to unveil the finished project.

Here it is on the top of the mantel:

And here's Rob so EXCITED to get this project out of the garage. One down honey, one to go!
oh...and he's pointing to "love" the word that he added at the end when Iw as left with too much room. I wanted "recycle". I lost.

Ever have one of those afternoons where you've answered the 1000th question of the day even after asking 1000 times to not ask more questions? Well that's the kind of afternoon we're having! Kids are in their rooms, playing quietly awaiting playmates. Thank god for playmates!

So...seriously good dinner last night per my mom who likes to try new recipes. This one....well looks funny all around but is yummy. Even the kids liked it. Here it is:

Salisbury Steak:
1 1/2 lb hamburger
1 medium onion cut upone finely
1/3 c bread crumbs
1 egg betaen
2 8 oz jars of gravy (my mom used Heinz. I made my own from a gravy packet (brown gravy) sure both work the same)
1/2 C parsley (i did not have this and thus did not use)

Heat oven to 350. Combine everything on the list EXCEPT 1 1/2 cups of gravy. Keep this aside for later. Mix it all up good and make 6 hamburger size patties. Put the patties in a 9 x 13 pan an then pour all of that left over gravy on top. Cover the pan with foil and put in the oven for 45 minutes. Then serve! it was delicious.

My mom made it a night ahead and kept it in the fridge and she said it was also delicious that way.

Try it. if you can find it, use organic meat because I swear those cows taste better!
