Dear Blockbuster video...you suck.

It's no wonder that Blockbuster video is on their way out the door.  I give the company two years...max.  they suck.  seriously.  I sent rob to get movies for tonight (which we didn't watch because he's sick) and he came back with $19.96 in movies from the Blockbuster.  What...you might be asking...did he buy? He rented 4 movies. That's it!  Can you believe that price tag.  And they are all due back on Tuesday.  Apparently Blockbuster considers Elmo's world and Dora the Explorer to be new releases and charged him $4.99 for them.  WTF (yes...I wrote WTF...you all know what it means!).  Seriously.  If i hadn't been in my pajamas sipping a pumpkin spice latte I would have taken them all back and gotten a refund.  You can 'rent' from the library for free these days you know.  For that price I could have bought a 3 month subscription to netflix and enjoyed 15 movies a month.  Seriously Blockbuster...get it together.  We need to save all the money we can...we have $300 worth of cookie dough to pay for!

How to spend $300 on cookie dough

Yesterday morning marked the deadline to turn in Cookie dough orders at Will's school.  You know...another fundraiser.  They suck those kids in so fast with prizes and treats and this year...they went so far as to offer a LIMO ride to students that sold 24 cases of cookie dough.  Will came home two weeks ago so excited to maybe ride in a 'long' car.  He has no idea does he!  He was gung-ho on asking everyone we knew to buy a box of cookies until he actually had to ask.  At which point he could have cared less.  So fast forward to last night as I was going through his backpack and Will says "Mom? was today the last day to turn in the cookie money?"  Well CRAP!  If I was in any running for mother of the year award it just flew out the window.  I forgot to send cookie money with Will.  So Rob, being the salesman he is, got on the phone, made some calls and low and behold they'll take cookie dough today too!  (of course they will...)  As we were looking through the prizes-which is all he wants-we realized you have to sell 24 BOXES for the limo ride.  But wait...the boxes are $15 DOLLARS each.  That's practically armed robbery for food that will just make me even fatter.  So, because of mommy and daddy guilt (did i mention that I also found Will's picture money in his bag too-apparently when picture day came he had no idea that he had money in his bag.  No money=no pictures.  Gigantic crocodile tears from that one) ROb decides that we'll just buy the boxes so HE CAN WIN THE PRIZE.  Seriously?!  so folks...that's how you spend over $300 on cookie dough.  I think i could buy a 'mommy of the year award' for that kind of cash!

So many things to blog about right now but too little time.  so instead, a yummy recipe for those enormous zucchinis that grew in our yard.

1 cup canola oil

3 eggs

3 teaspoons vanilla extract

2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup baking cocoa

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

2 cups shredded peeled zucchini

In a large bowl, beat the sugar, oil, eggs and vanilla until well blended. Combinethe flour, cocoa, salt, baking soda, cinnamon and baking powder; gradually beatinto sugar mixture until blended. Stir in zucchini. Transfer to two 8-in. x 4-in.loaf pans coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 50-55 minutes oruntil a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.

Yield: 2 loaves (12 slices each).

P.S. You can shred and freeze some zucchini and be able to make these loaves during the winter.

P.P.S I made muffins.  they were delicious. and easier to carry for snacks.
