Fooled you! No Operation here silly. But remember this gem
Hours of laughter (and just a few small tears) were all ours this evening because of this fun little game that has the most annoying sound you'll ever here when metal touches metal. It's almost shocking how annoying it is. But...we got through it and laughed as we tried our hardest to never hear the sound. Addi was pleased as punch with herself because by the end of the night she was able to pull the rubberband off all by herself.

14 things i love today
1. In the car Addi will say "Good Luck there was no police man mommy!" whenever I go through a yellow light. She thinks yellow lights are red lights and warranted a trip to jail. I like how she gets 'thank goodness' confuse with 'good luck'
2. How Addi is singing in her bed right now when she should be asleep
3. coffee this morning at Starbucks with just rob. It was 20 minutes of adult talking and it was wonderful. It was a Valentine's Day treat for both of us!
4. Will sitting in the back of the van in his car seat and reading by the last light of day. Then, as quickly as he's reading he pops his head up and says 'I'm going to be car sick!' Once, just once, he got car sick. Actually maybe it has happened twice. Anyhow, each time it does, his back gets out. So know, when he thinks he's going to get car sick, we ask him if his back is hot. If not, he just needs air. If the back is hot, we have to pull over FAST.
5. The bachelor. really. another season. This should not make a list of things I love but it's on right now and it makes me angry when it goes to commercial. It's about the only thing I'm willing to stay up past 9pm for!
7. My husband and how much he does for our family.
8. My family. Cool gang that would drop anything for us.
9. Little kids that sneak into bed in the middle of the night and snuggle up just close enough that you know that they are there. Last night it was Addi and we shared a pillow and we snuggled just close enough, not too close that she pushed me off the bed! And they always sleep more peacefully next to us. Nothing wakes them up! Not the shower, not the toilet flushing, nothing. She slept in an HOUR longer than usual and even then she had to be woken up!
10. Valentine's day chocolates. Especially the peanut butter filled kind.
11. A Spring break trip to someplace SUNNY. At least it better be SUNNY.
12. Our babysitter Katie, who knows when to tell me the perfect things about my kids and always reminds me that we are raising good kids. Katie is great and we are SO LUCKY to have her in our lives!
13. Days to get caught up! You know the days when no one asks you any questions and you tick things off your to-do lists quickly and efficiently. These days are usually just me, at home, with a computer, and no kids (my own or students!)
14. Spring time headed our way! Flowers are pushing up and the camelia bush is just about in bloom.
15 (because #5 did not count!) The orthodontist telling me that my braces are most likely coming off next month (99% sure) Woo-Hoo. No more metal mouth!
Happy Valentine's Day!

The Latest...
I've made it to work early for the past 3 days because Addison has been up and ready to go by 5:15. This means everyone is up earlier and out the door on time!
Yesterday, Addi took a shower in the morning before school and she sang her little heart out as loud as she could. The closet light caused a shadow on the wall of the shower and she was singing to her shadow about her smooth hair and how good the warm water felt. She was singing loud! and giggling and it was adorable.
Will is almost over his cough. Almost. I wish Spring would come and dry away all sicknesses.
The sun has been out a lot the past few days which makes everyone happy.
Will read 35.5 hours last month and earned a ice cream gift certificate which we used last night. I had the Heatbreak Potion at 31 flavors and it was good but Rob's German Chocolate Cake was even better.
Spy is a popular game in our house and Will is getting better and better at it.
I watched the Oprah on meat and was reminded of a New Year's resolution 2 years ago to eat more local food and produce. I'm needing to revisit this.
We booked plane tickets for Spring break last night to a sunny place which is SOOOO exciting. Sunny places in March. I may have tan!

Jr. First Lego League
A few weeks ago Will and his buddy participated in a Lego competition at OMSI. Lego, aside from being responsible for making expensive cool toys, also sponsors some cool events to get kids interested in engineering. I knew about the program because our super cool engineering teacher at school runs a robotics club and even the big ids participate. So I signed Will up last year and the topic was Biomedical science. The goal was to build something in the science realm out of Legos and then present it to a panel of judges. The key is to have the kids do all of the work (note to self: 85% of the other pieces were done by parents. true story). The boys decided on a machine that allowed a doctor is numb and flavor a cotton swab before they shoved it down your throat for a strep test. good idea. strep tests SUCK! So Rob and I and Will's buddy's parents agreed the boys would do ALL of the work (that's what the directions said and I like to follow directions). So this is what they came up with:
Simple right? I thought it was perfect. But then when we dropped it off at OMSI on the morning of the competition we were met with super duper creations built by parents with their kids names on them. Why does that happen? What 6 year old thinks about creating a mobile medical unit that can aid people in the desert? i don't know. The project had to have a moving part so that little arm piece goes back and forth in between the flavors (the other boxes).
They also had to make a poster explaining their piece:
I had to blur out friends' face because he can't have random pictures of himself in cyber land...his parents say so!
Then my favorite part, they had to tlka about it to a complete stranger and answer questions too. it looked like this:
See all those parents? There must have been 4 parents for every child. Wow! and so many cameras.
At the end of the event, all of the kids got an award (Will's group got best invention for making medicine taste better) and then they got to play at OMSI for the afternoon. pretty fun stuff.

Addi went too and her day looked a lot like this (very happy!):
