Ms. Kenedi...on being 2 weeks old

Ms. Kenedi is 2 weeks old tomorrow.  TOMORROW!  Where does time go.  Parents must ask themselves that question a million time in their lives.  Here's what's funny....in the life of a newborn, two weeks is like a lifetime.  Kenedi already looks like a different kid from the day she was born.  Her little personality is coming out and her eyes are opening more and more each day.  Here's a few things about Kenedi that we love the most.

Baby Kenedi at 13 days!
  • She's a great eater.  I've learned that great eating = good sleeping.  Thus far, we get about two 4 hour stretches each night.  Not bad.  Throw in a little nighttime feeding that involves mommy laying down and dozing on and off (it's like an all night buffet!) and we are GOLDEN!  I say this cautiously as we all know things change every two weeks with  little ones.
  • Her eye thing-y is gone and she looks like our other babies did.  Kenedi was born with a clog tear duct on both ends.  It looked like a cyst in the corner of her eyes.  It was weird.  I hoped it would go away on its own but the optometrist said it probably wouldn't and so we had it probed.  PROBED!  That's a scary word when you are holding a newborn in your arms.  It took 2 minutes and was worse for me than her and now all is well.
  • check out that EYE!  WOW.
and after...

  • Will & Addi LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Kenedi.  Love her.  Kisses, hugs, more kisses, BIG hugs, and holding tightly are all part of our regular routine.  The kids love her.  It's like a little missing piece, that we never knew we couldn't find, has just popped into our family and found a perfect little home.  It's so much fun to see it.

  • She loves to be swaddled so tight it looks like it just may hurt a little.  It's so cute.  When else in your life to you long to be strapped inside something...???

  • She is a sucker!  We haven't had a sucker yet and boy oh boy is it a trip!  She loves to suck.  She sucked a blister in her hand in utero and since she came out has sucked on everything...her hand, a binky, pacifier, your shirt, nipples, whatever!  The girl loves to suck.Thank god for the hospital issued pacifiers (I stole 4) and good sucking.  Unlike Addi, I think this one will take a bottle and that will make everyone's life better around here!
Her first bath lasted all of 20 seconds until she screamed for her pacifier!
  • Girl clothes!  Enough said!  Why are they so cute (although impossible to put on....)
  • An umbilical cord that has funny names.  Will calls it her 'intesticle cord' and Addi calls it her 'umbiblical cord' although her version comes out very garbled.  Thankfully the thing came off yesterday and was proudly displayed on the coffee table for all to see (it's in the garbage now!)
