And so happy to have made it. Why is it that kids work so hard to grow up so fast and parents work so hard to keep them young for so long. That picture above describes Addison perfectly. Spunky, fun, lady like, all smiles, and always bringing a little bit of sunshine with her wherever she goes.
In rare form, WE got to wake the big girl up on her birthday morning. Around here this is done with a very LOUD Happy Birthday followed by tickles and tackles.
She pretended to be asleep here because I think she wanted the full effect of the wake up. Usually Addison is doing the waking up around this house.
She is so TALL and SKINNY.
She got to open family presents right off the bat.
This Rapunzel Barbie was on her list because it came with an easel and paintbrush that really worked. She's not so much into Barbies but loves the accessories.
I picked out some soft fuzzy pillows for her bed. This girl has a thing for soft and fuzzy. Her blankets, coats, whatever. She loves the feel of soft, fuzzy material.
And like last year, Daddy picked out a dress for her. Two this year. She always remembers exactly what dress Daddy picked out for her birthday all year long and wears it with such excitement. Last year's version was a simple black cotton one that was dressed up, and down, all year long.
She's looking a bit tired here from all of the excitement. I don't have a picture but she chose doughnuts for breakfast. She wanted a jelly filled and a maple bar and chocolate milk. She ate the jelly out of the jelly filled and 1/2 the maple bar and called it good. Good thing she has a pregnant mom to clean up after her!
After dance camp we painted nails. Green with glitter and she demanded to do it all by herself. I even have green, glittery nails courtesy of Addi.
We got all dressed up and headed out to Benihana's with the family for dinner. She wore her new dress and Aunt Lyndsey did her hair all special for her. She wanted to go to Benihana's because of the fun tricks they do on the grill while they prepare the food. We went for Will's birthday when we were in San Diego and the kids loved it. Addison kept asking about the 'volcano' all day long...referring to the onion volcano they do. Most of the family hadn't been to benihana's in years, if ever, so it was fun to share it with everyone.
Parker wasn't so game on the chef's hat.
Addi loved the soup....but only the broth...not the mushrooms. She 'doesn't care for mushrooms' she says.
We LOVE this little girl. Look at the way Rob is watching her.....so sweet (even though she can be a little bit rotten to him sometimes)
Will focused on mazes and Soduko puzzles
Nana & Papa
Uncle Stan & Will
The little ones snuggling on laps.
Silly faces!
5 Things I LOVE about Addison
1. She is silly, sweet, kind, caring, compassionate, and so easy going. She is just a well tempered child that looks for the best in whatever she is doing.
2. She asks for so little. This may sound silly, but in a house with an older brother who wants EVERYTHING, Addi asks for so little. It's crazy how different the two of them are. She is content with a pen and a post it note for writing on. That's it. She'll eat most everything you put in front of her and if given the option she'd rather let somebody choose than make a choice. When I asked her what she wanted for her birthday, she said 'nuffing'.
3. She's a girly girl. She loves dress up, make up, nail polish, glitter spray, dresses, frills, pink, putting on deodorant in the mornings with me, and smelly stuff. All things girly.
4. She's feisty under that cute little exterior. She has a way of snapping at us when she is angry, crossing her arms just so when she's mad, and stomping off to her room when she gets in trouble. This little spark is her perfect balance.
5. Her brother, and mom and dad love her to pieces (and she is so loving back). She is just a little light in our lives and we all feel pretty lucky to have her around. There is nothing like an Addi hug to brighten your day.
Love you Miss Addison!
